NoNieqa gives thanks, and a book + audiobook!
Picture book writers don’t get much room for acknowledgments in their books, but we have so many people to thank. It’s been a week since HAIR STORY - the second picture book of the year for Troupe member NoNieqa Ramos, illustrated by Keisha Morris (Carolrhoda) - swept us away on its book birthday…

… and it’s time to say THANKS!
Here’s a message from Troupe member NoNieqa Ramos:
First and foremost, gracias to my children Langston and Jandi. Watching your hair stories unfold has been magical. Jandi, my princex, your hair has been a celebration and an anthem. I’m in awe of your courage and creativity. Langston, my prince, I hope you always know your hair and everything about you is glorious. To my partner Miguel, sometimes the drops are miles deep. Sometimes the ascents are miles high. Mil gracias to the moon for being my net, my wings, and my soul mate on this wild ride.
To my dear editor Carol, thank you for helping me grow, shape, and style HAIR STORY. Your guidance and insight are invaluable. I love our book. And when the goings got especially rough, thank you for your unwavering support. Thank you Lindsay Matvick and everyone at Lerner who has continued to show love for my art.
To the illustrator Keisha Morris, thank you for showering our book with sunshine and jubilation. I know when Littles and their caregivers turn the pages of HAIR STORY they will feel seen and loved.
Thank you, queridas, writers, artists and world-changers Aida Salazar, Mia García, and Alexandra Villasante for your infinite support and wisdom during HAIR STORY’s book journey and always.
