Picture book writers don’t get much room for acknowledgments in their books, but we have so many people to thank. It’s been a week since YOUR MAMA - the picture book debut of Troupe member NoNieqa Ramos, illustrated by Jacqueline Alcántara (Versify) - rocked onto shelves…

… and it’s time to say THANKS!
Here’s a message from Troupe member and debut picture book author NoNieqa Ramos:
First and foremost eternal gratitude and eternal love to my partner and my children; you are my inspiration, joy, and strength. If anyone watches She-ra, you’ll understand the humor when I tell you my tweenager has started calling my writer’s office my sanctum. It can be tough living with a writer on deadline!
It took a village of mama figures to raise me and it took a village of talented folx to bring YOUR MAMA into the world. Thank you Fuse Literary and Emily Keyes for taking on YOUR MAMA. Emily, you specifically said you did not do picture books when we signed and made the jump with me anyway! Kwame Alexander, don’t know how you can hear yourself think with all the praise ringing in your ears. Thank you for believing in my project and my career. Kwame and Erika Turner, thank you for your editorial expertise in helping me excavate, declutter, and polish my work so it could shine. Jacqueline Alcántara, bless you for gracing YOUR MAMA with your dazzling illustrations. Thank you for the tireless effort of Versify and the marketing team extraordinaire for bringing YOUR MAMA into the world with a bang! Finally, I am sending so much love and appreciation to the PB Troupe, the Soaring 20s, and Las Musas for your infinite energy, creativity, insight, support, and friendship on my book journeys.
